they deserve it

Anyone who doesn’t believe in God should be lined up and shot, that way they can see for themselves that God is real. We shouldn’t let them vote or hold public office because they have no basis for their morality.

Let’s break this down. (And remove any assumptions about believing in God or not). I’ll be respectful throughout this and continue to capitalize the g.

You claim that people that don’t believe in God should be shot to see that God is real. Saying that means you have some sort of proof of an afterlife, yet there is no hard evidence supporting this fact. Unless you, yourself, have been shot and seen God.

As far as public office goes, there is a specific reason that there was a separation of church and state. With the freedom of religion comes the freedom of no religion. Having a church state would be at odds with that.

It’s your specific right to vote for who you want in office based on your morals and ethics, and I won’t argue those. It’s also your right to campaign for those same people as to try and get other people to join your side of the issue and help get your candidate in office.

However, and this is where you fall short, removing people that don’t agree with you permanently so that your side can be uncontested goes against some of those same morals that you place so dear.

Also, your definition of morality isn’t correct. Based on your tie of morality to religion I’m assuming that you believe that you can only have morals if you believe in God or participate in a religion that worships God (You left yourself wide open to removing people who believe in Allah, Hindu Deities, Native American spirits, and a whole host of other religions that believe in a deity that isn’t necessarily called God).

The standard definition of Morals as a noun:
    1. A lesson, esp. one concerning what is right or prudent, that can be derived from a story, a piece of information, or an experience
    - the moral of this story was that one must see the beauty in what one has

    2. A person’s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do
    - the corruption of public morals

    3. Standards of behavior that are considered good or acceptable
    - they believe addicts have no morals and cannot be trusted

    Source

I don’t see a mention of religion or God in there at all and that is how it should be. Morals ARE based on your experiences. If you grew up in a rough area you may not believe that stealing something that you NEED is a bad thing (food, clothing, water). Society disagrees with that, but it’s still there, especially during times of emergency when looting becomes somewhat necessary for those basic needs.

So next time you think people should be killed for their beliefs or lack of, maybe you should do a little bit of introspection and figure out exactly what morals you have.

Be good to be good… why need an incentive? People like you are the reason there is such hatred towards christians from the non-christian folk. Get rid of all the atheists, pagans, muslims, jews…then what? Next comes the catholics, then the mormons, then whatever offshoot of every other christian religion that isn’t acceptable in your eyes. Morality derives from personal experience and upbringing… not a book. I’ve never heard a pagan or an atheist or a jew call for the death of all christians, yet i constantly hear christians and muslims call for the death of non-believers, and generally it’s more christians than muslims. So where is the basis for your morality Mr. line the up and shoot them? You are no different than the extremists who flew the planes into our buildings on 9/11. It’s all just hate fueled by religion… how sad a life you must live…
