You Were… *Poetry Girl*

Every time I see your shy face,
I slip a little further

Every time you smile and say hey,
I get a little closer to my edge

Every time we hug and your hand lingers on my waist
I loose a little more sanity

You were my insanity
You were my drug
You were my high

Remember when we used to listen to music,
and share our pasts?
Did I ever tell you it made me a little crazy?

Remember when we took those long walks late at night,
breathing in the polluted scent of the city?
Did I ever tell you it pushed me to my brink?

Remember when we lay on the hood of your car,
watching the Persied meteors light nature’s black canvas?
I think a piece of me was left behind that night

You were my insanity
You were my drug
You were my high

Whenever you flashed those little smiles in between drags,
a piece of me lost itself in the flood

Whenever you told me it was ok if I stayed,
my mind wandered away

Whenever we shared your worn blanket,
wrapped up in it to keep each other warm,
I forgot who I was

You were my drug
You were my high

To save an addict,
you must destroy the addiction
I tried so hard to hate you,
hoping it would be much simpler then this complicated feeling called
LOVE

But I soon learned,
that hate is just as deadly as the drug itself

So I’ll just keep loving you,
quietly and shyly without
Pomp
Circumstance
Words
Gifts
or Promises

You were my drug
I was your saving grace
You were my high
I was your light
You were my insanity
I reminded you of what it’s like to feel

- By the way, whoever password protected my name in the chat; why would you do that? Yes, I want to be anonymous. I don’t want people I know reading this and knowing it’s me, but I’d like the readers of this site to know that Poetry Girl is an alias and that all poetry posted under that name is one person: Moi.

Get my logic? Please respect it.

    Get out of my face
    Get out of my sight
Get out of my head and give me back my piece of mind
I don’t understand why you think you
Can do the things you can’t

think maybe you could relate to this lyric.
