Why must things be so awkward?
Long rant ok here goes. I’m eighteen. I’m dating a boy who is quite attractive and yet somehow the most off putting individual one might encounter. It literally seems like some unknown force, people see him and they hate him. My best friend, people at parties, my parents (who have limited to no contact with one another), even the incredibly supportive members of my family eye him like he crawled out of a steaming pit. I suppose he does have some of his own friends who seem to like him… anyhow. The point is he’s my first ,real’ boyfriend. He is obsessed with me… literally… I could enjoy the attention but even I’m turned off to him sometimes, he does little more than complain about his family and his situation with life and make blank threats at the world. An awkward character indeed. Remember that I said he was attractive?…
Now here’s where it gets awkward. My father has been pestering me for weeks about whether or not I’m having sex with this boy. I have denied it bitterly even though I have been, but I don’t see how it’s his business. Still he pried so obnoxiously into my life, even going so far as to tell me that he’d found a condom wrapper in my room while feeding my cat while I was away for a week, because the cat must have ‘knocked over the garbage can at some point’ and he just happened to see it… serious freaking creeper.
The other night my boyfriend and I decided to take a shower together at about 3 in the morning, after my dad made it a point to take advantage of the fact that we were up all that time and hang out with us before he went to bed. The man lacks a social life of his own so whatever friend I have over is just his buddy-o-pal, regardless of how he might insult them at any other time. Anyway we take our shower, I step out and my father is just waiting for me in the living room. So being an idiot and thinking I could still save a shred of privacy I told him my boyfriend was upstairs in my room, and had him get dressed and stay in the shower. About 20 minutes later my father makes it a point to go into the bathroom where he has known all along my boyfriend is and tell him he doesn’t need to hide… to which boyfriend said something that sounded dumb to me at the time and. Well.
Today dad teased me about it, called to tell a friend, and then later off offhandedly inquired details about my sex life. Just. Eww.

yeah, your dad asking and making comments about your sex life is just.. well you said it, eww. but if you are having sex under his roof, you have to expect to get caught. especially taking a shower at 3 am with your boyfriend. while your dad is home. or leaving a condom wrapper in the trash. how did you think you could get away with that? rule number one is to make sure the evidence is OUT of the house before anyone has a chance to find it. my first gf and i would have sex with her parents in the house, but i always took the condom and wrapper with me when i left and got rid of it at a gas station trash can.
as for the boyfriend that EVERYONE hates… even you said “I could enjoy the attention but even I’m turned off to him sometimes”… that would kinda be a clue in my opinion that maybe this isn’t the right guy for you.

Yeah, that is pretty disgusting that your dad was making comments. But I also think that you have a lot of guts doing it when your parents were home. I’m not trying to sound like bitch, but I think its a little disrespectful too. I mean, I know lots of people do it when there parents are home, my sister used to tell me how oblivious my parents were when her and her bf used to do it in her room. But I would be worried and humiliated if they found out. You should do it when there not home, or somewhere outside of your home. Then you dont have to hide any evidence.
