The problem with the Air Force (and other branches) is there are too many ROADies (retired on active duty) My time in the Air Force was less than enjoyable. I scored 98% on my upgrade training after tech school, was never late for duty, had the best room on base during inspections. My supervisor said he didn’t believe airman deserved all 9′s on APR’s. Also, I was born and raised Catholic, was stationed in the Bible Belt (Moody AFB) and politely refused to go to his church. I was told I need to be saved.
When I got out the National Guard called me, I didn’t contact them. They needed help with upgrading from A-37 to F-16 aircraft. I questioned flight line safety and got out of the Guard. There was no money spent on training because I had training from active duty and I read the regs and wrote a letter of resignation and moved on.
In short, the military held me back and I achieved far higher aspirations outside of the military. When people ask me where I learned my far superior leadership skills I tell them with a smile that I learned how NOT to be a supervisor from a plethora of idiots who thought they were great people when in reality they were only big fishes in a small pond.
You couldn’t be more correct! With the new EPR system, favortism plays a huge role and many airmen despite school and volunteerism along with great work ethic, get shafted with 4′s because leadership doesn’t like them. I’ve got two more years and am finished with this crap!

I’m right there with you. The Air Force is getting ridiculous and no amount of “sucking it up” is going to change my attitude. I’m a master sergeant with 13 years and I’m thinking about calling it quits. I think the biggest problem is that most of the truly intelligent people get out after their first term of service leaving only the slackers and power mongers.
I swear if I hear the word “resiliency” or “wingmanship” one more time I’m going to choke a bitch.
I have been in for almost 5 years and just tested for staff (out of cycle) in December. I ended up scoring a 93 on the PDG only WOPS test and would have sewed on in March, but due to a false report by a dirtbag SrA SF creep who got mad that I questioned him, I received a control roster and LOR and now cannot test until next year. The Air Force preaches “integrity first”, yet seems quick to punish people with little or NO evidence to support accusations against them. Then, you have scum like SF who routinely lie and write false statements, and people who falsely accuse others of offenses for which their is NO truth. This has become a sickening reality that is only getting worse. I say that getting out is a good option for you!
I did 4 years and got out- I spent the first two years of my career learning Arabic to be a crypto-linguist, but due to initiatives within the AF to create a larger deployable force, got cornered into a job I absolutely hated (security forces). I couldn’t stand atmosphere, the work environment, or the people. A lot of it had to do with the command on base too and the amount of “dog-and-pony” shows for brass. I have no regrets- I got out three years ago and have never been happier. I’m glad I did my time, but I’m even happier it’s over, and I’m reaping the benefits!

The Air Force fucked me over when I was sexually assaulted. My EPR’s suffered because I couldn’t handle my job. I was preoccupied with PTSD, trying to kill myself and things like that. My leadership took this as “she’s lazy”. Long story short, I lost a stripe because I was sexually assaulted. Thank you Uncle Sam. Not only did you scar me for life, you ruined my once promising career.
The af screwed me the same way. Accused by a self confessed drug addict that I did something I didn’t. 8 witness vouched for me…8. Still reduction in rank, fined, confinement and extra duty. Fuck the Air Force. I’m glad to be out, now I realize how much of my time I wasted in a dead end job…not career…job.
I have to admit I am anxiously awaiting a retirement in the U.S. AF. I once as a Airman loved this hypocritical service. I served with ignorance and faith trusting the leaders appointed above me. Unfortunately, the leaders above me were terrible at best and I have come to the conclusion that we are far from the best AF in the world.
I had the volentold opportunity to meet as an enlisted member with a Magor General for lunch. It was dissapointing as I assumed it would be. I asked many pointed questions of the General only to get half assed answers that one would expect of an enlisted member. I asked simple questions like why are we making some U.S Fighter Units noncurrent when getting them current would cost so much more in the long term. I also asked if the AF would alter their standards and require less flying hours to maintain standards. He seemed by my perception to be annoyed by my question and quickly answered, we will still be the best AF in the world. I think bull crap and what a coward for this answer. Someone needs to stick up to congress, and tell the truth, someone needs to tell the right story and keep the sky from falling. This particular General made my skin crawl and I wanted vomit.
I next asked the General on his opinion of the SEDCEF’s recommendation to remove Convening Authorities power to overturn convictions. He was totally speechlees and stated that he did have an email in his inbox about this subject but refused to comment. I just wanted his opinion. I am sure it was bullshit.
Also recently, I had the opportunity so speak with a base level Jag officer who supported 100 percent the decision of Lt General Franklin, and the power he had to do so. I was so disgusted for I know a great deal of fighter pilots and they have absolutely no business commanding little alone making lawful judgements against their peers.
As I have said previously, I am excited to retire and enter the civilian world. I am ready to loose my enlisted title and be judged based upon my ability for once in 20 years.

I was in a futile position in my four years of active duty and four years with the Air National Guard. A lot of the so called leaders are only big fish in a little pond. They stay with the Force because, alas they can not make it in the real job world. They are minions mindlessly following the lead of the next higher up in the chain of command hoping they do not disappoint their superiors.

So I just happened to google “security force retards” while feeling natstalgic and it brought me here. First things first, supreme leader, you’re a faggot. I know no other response that could sum up who you are as well as convey how big of douche you have to be to have so much pride in such a mundane and inconsequential branch of the military. I bet you work at the base MPF.
Second, I’d like to impart my knowledge to you men and women whom are looking to separate or are in the process of separating. I separated in 2002 at the conclusion of my first term plus nine months of stop loss. This was the best decision of my life. I used my GI Bill and obtained an engineering degree and have been gainfully employed ever since. I just received my last pay increase and I’m at $120k/year (and that’s just with an under grad degree!). Not to mention my life is awesome, I work for a great company, get plenty of vacation and my 401k is matched at 1.5%. Life is good!
I assure you I am not bragging, but am attempting to show you what you can achieve and provide a bit if mentorship on how to get there:
1) before you get out, go to finance and get the GI Bill kicker. In 2002 I payed $600 and my GI Bill increased by $5600.00
2) apply to college, go for a technical degree (engineering, IT, design, etc). If you major in drama, art, English, art history you’re a faggot and deserve to be inevitably unemployed. If you’re even considering one of these degrees slap yourself in the face right now!
2 a) if you suck at math, get better at it. Take lower level courses and make friends with the professors, they will be invaluable resources.
3) don’t fuck off. I pounded the P a lot in college cus well chicks dig me, but I also didn’t go party often and devoted my time to the studying and the gym. You had your chance to have fun, it was called the Air Force, get over it and focus
4) internship internship internship. These will most likely be un paid, too fucking bad, you have to get the experience. If money is a concern, when you seperate, apply for unemployment. Tell unemployment there is no civilian equivalent to your military job. This will prevent them from making you report your job searches. Continue to apply for extensions on the basis of re-training i.e. going to college.
5) if you’re a single man, don’t knock some chick up. If you’re a single woman don’t get knocked up. You’re working for your future, don’t get caught in the “now” and fuck up your opportunity.
