What Happened to Quality Products

09:10pm September 23 2009 ~ 3 Responses · About customers.

So why is it the average life of a TV 20-30 years ago was 20 years and now the new LCD and Plasma TVs cost 5 times as much and have an average life of 5-10 years. This is just a simple sample of a lot of different items, kitchen appliances, electronics, . Nothing is built to last anymore for the customers, it is built so consumers have to keep buying.

You can still buy quality products, you just have to pay more and shop around. Most flatscreen TVs only have 10000 hours on a lighting element, but you can get 40 year cookware, shoes that will last for years, phones with more than a decade of life, or speakers with 15 solid years of use. The biggest issue for most consumer goods right now is technology overrun. A TV bought in 2000 is simply not as good as one bought now, however much life is left in it. That said, if you shop carefully you can get items that will last forever on anything that will not be obsoleted.

Because now everything is made in China, and the extra profits the companies are making from the low wages they pay the Chinese workers are going straight to the bosses’ pockets. Think it’s bad now? Just wait for Cap and Trade!!

because they make the products to fail so they can keep making money off the people who foolishly replace them.
