As an American living abroad, I have worked to learn a second language. One thing I have learned is that you have to “switch” from one language to the other depending on your social context. What I can’t stand are people (principally Americans) who speak in English but constantly throw in a word or phrase in the second language. Seriously, people, pick a language and stick with it!
